Emergency Server Maintenance

I watch my clients' websites for any issues and ensure they are resolved.

Today the MySQL server for one of my client's websites was left in maintenance mode by the staff at the server hosting service. This is the first time this has happened but it was tricky because to them the server looked like it was up and running and it wasn't immediately obvious to them that none of the databases could be modified.

You could view the site, but you couldn't make changes. Placing an order on the client's websites requires making a change to the database.

It's Saturday, but without even contacting the client I set about working with the server hosting service to resolve the issue and it was fixed about 30 minutes ago. This is why choosing to have a monthly contract with me works out well for my clients. My clients would often not notice this kind of issue and wouldn't know what to do about it. That's why they work with me.
